Hammer in Hand

Sixth Plate Ambrotype | With fire in his eyes, the resolute character of this rough country workman comes across loud and clear. The detail in this sixth plate ambrotype is exceptional: Ambrotypes at their best can be as life-like as a fine daguerreotype. Judging from the style of the mat I would estimate that this bold portrait was created circa 1858. Measures 2 3/4 inches by 3 1/4 inches, in a half case. Image #A-01; price on request.
