Affectionate Father & Daughter

Sixth Plate Ambrotype | The tete-a-tete (head to head) pose was a favorite device in the photography of ante-bellum American, but it usually featured Mom and is less commonly found with Dad in the role of intimate parent. A fine, moving example of the genre. The young daughter seems to need comforting in what was probably a scary first visit to the photographer's studio. This is a sixth plate ambrotype residing in a half case. Image #A-09; price on request.
